Since a decade I have been visiting Saigon several times witnessing its rapid transformation. Although not the capital, Saigon is now the biggest city in Vietnam and the country‘s financial center. Officially known as Ho Chi Minh City it has been transforming into a mega city with a population of over 10 million. The city is densifying. The old cityscape has been altered by a number of skyscrapers. New quarters are rapidly growing, often loosely regulated by the city authorities. But what is to be expected, when a metropolis is changing fast and profoundly like this? Will Saigon, in the process of its further development, be able to keep its character? Let's see!
